- Shoot hi-resolution and clear content
- Feature real people
- Use text overlays.
By the way, you don’t have to create content from scratch – adapt your content or tap into creators to build something new.

Be production-principled
Making videos on TikTok isn’t hard, but it’s important to get the basics right!
Here’s how to be that expert producer:
- Shoot content vertically
- Use hi-resolution footage
- Be aware of UI-friendly “safe space”
Just follow these guidelines each time you upload a new video, and you’ll soon be a pro.
Build with sound
50% of TikTok users say music makes content more uplifting and entertaining. It’s key to the experience!
This video from the University Georgia uses music to its full advantage: it helps tell the story about a “day in the life of” an intern at a football game. It’s high-energy, appropriately paced, and hey, it never hurts to add text and emojis:
@universityofga A day in the life with the man himself 🔥

Here’s a few things to keep in mind when it comes to music on TikTok:
- Find music that complements your video’s look and feel.
- Explore using voiceovers to add narration and give more story details. Keep it clear and concise
- Create dramatic sound effects.
You can use TikTok’s music catalog, custom music services, or use sound clips.
Stick to a structure
It’s all about keeping your audience engaged! Focus on grabbing attention, conveying value, and driving action. Think of it as a three-part structure where there’s a hook or a tease, body, and close.
- The hook/tease is when you create anticipation. The first few seconds can make or break a video! Think about if you want to use suspense, surprise, or emotion.
- The body delivers your story. Some have “ah ha” moments, while others take the problem/solution format.
- The close is where you tie it all together!
Hold attention with stimulation
The goal is to keep viewers interested! So, how do you do this? We’ll let this video from Nationwide Children’s Hospital show you:

Here are some quick ideas to also try:
- 🎶 Music: High-paced sounds can help keep tempo alive — and have people remember your video.
- ↪️ Dynamic transitions: Unpredictable
- ➡️ Movement: Keeps eyes glued to the screen
- 💬 Text overlays: People want to read it to believe it! Text pop ups help sustain high engagement.
- 🤔 Emojis: When you can, why not? Communicate in a simple and playful way.
