How I use SND:
I’m Brian Ligon, the Communications and Marketing Director for the City of Mont Belvieu, Texas. We are a very fast-growing community on the east side of Houston, right on I-10. We are mainly an industrial town. Even for a city of our size, people are surprised that our small city has such a global reach.
One of the challenges that we face is our job to inform the residents what’s going on in the city, primarily through social media. I did use another platform for a while, and they were fine, but I started realizing that “fine” wasn’t good enough for us. In order to really achieve the communication goals that we had, just having scheduling wasn’t enough.
Being able to truly listen and being able to report back efficiently and thoroughly was critical. I feel like Social News Desk has been able to elevate our game on all of those levels, where we’re able to work more efficiently so that we’re reaching those populations better. It allows us to hop back in and address comments quickly and efficiently without going someplace else.
We can just be in the dashboard as much as we need to be, automatically generate reports not only for myself and my team, but also to my city manager and my deputy city manager, so that they can see month over month what those real numbers are. We can show how effective we are, even in some of the accounts that we don’t 100 percent control.
And when it comes to real critical issues within our community, the native listening is fantastic. Just having an all-in-one dashboard has been a game changer for us.
