You can now easily edit your published Facebook posts in the SND Dashboard.

You asked, and Social News Desk has delivered! The ability to edit a Facebook post through the Social News Desk Dashboard has been one of the most requested feature additions we’ve ever had, and we’re excited to bring it to you. That’s right! You can now easily edit your published Facebook posts in the SND Dashboard.

How to Edit a Post in SND

To edit a published Facebook post from your Dashboard, hover over the three-dot menu in the bottom right corner of the post in your stream and click edit. Next, click the pencil icon next to the post text. From there, you can update the text of the post. Click “Save” to update the post.

You can also update your Facebook post from Post Manager. Just click on the text or thumbnail of the Facebook post you want to update under the “Post” column to bring up the post. Next, click the pencil icon next to the post text. From there, you can update the text of the post. Click “Save” to update the post.

Keep in mind, you will only be able to update posts that were created in SND. Facebook posts published outside of SND will still need to be updated natively.

Why Would I Need to Edit a Post?

In the fast-paced realm of social media, the ability to edit your Facebook posts can be a game-changer. Let’s explore why you might need to make those edits and how to do it effectively.

Breaking News: In a world where news travels at lightning speed, being able to update your posts with the latest information is invaluable. Whether you’re in a newsroom or simply sharing timely updates, editing your Facebook post ensures your audience stays informed as events unfold.

Weather Alerts: When it comes to severe weather or emergencies, timely communication is essential. By editing expired weather alert posts, you can keep your audience abreast of changing conditions and reassure them when the danger has passed.

Changing Crisis Communications: When your area is facing an emergency, every second counts. SND is built for rapidly changing situations, and being able to quickly edit your post without leaving your Dashboard can help save critical time.

Typos: Let’s face it – typos happen. When they do, swift action is key. Editing allows you to rectify mistakes promptly, maintaining professionalism and clarity in your messaging.

Best Practices for Editing Published Posts

When a situation arises where you need to edit a post that’s already been published, there are a few best practices you should keep in mind.

Maintain Transparency: When updating posts for developing situations, retain the original text while adding new information. Clearly indicate what has been updated to keep your audience informed and engaged.

Preserve the Message: While you can refine the wording for clarity or branding purposes, avoid altering the core message of your post. Consistency is key to maintaining trust and coherence with your audience.

Publish Your Content in SND: Posting content through the SND Dashboard will make it easier to update when the time comes. By using SND to post, you won’t need to worry about switching between the Dashboard and your Facebook account if you need to make updates later.

Editing Facebook posts isn’t just about fixing mistakes – it’s about staying relevant, transparent, and responsive to your audience’s needs. By mastering the art of post-editing, you can ensure your social media presence remains both professional and impactful.
