This just in from the Social News Desk development team… New features and tweaks to the new SND Dashboard based on YOUR feedback and requests!

Brand New Stuff…

We’ve JUST released two brand new widgets into your SND Analytics library. And they’re our most exciting additions yet!

1. The Facebook Post Stats Widget

This one is all about keeping an eye on how YOUR posts are performing.  Load this tool with any Facebook Page that’s authenticated inside your SND account.

Each Page is represented by a colored line on the graph. The tabs up top are Post Engagement (people who Liked, Commented, Shared or Clicked on your post), Post Reach (people who saw your post), and Engagement Rate (Post Engagement/Post Reach). So it’s easy to see over the past week or month how your Pages are trending and how they compare to one another.

Add Talent Pages to keep a running look at which on-air person is getting the most Engagement on Facebook. Or if you’re a Group Admin, you can load this with all the Pages under your corporate umbrella. Toggle them on and off the chart by clicking the profile pics.

And, so you can see how you’re trending long-term… each metric includes a “DAILY AVERAGE” and a “12 MONTH AVERAGE.” Use this to see if you’re beating (green) or falling behind (red) the annual average for that metric. Plus, for the selected accounts, you can see the top 2 posts by Reach, Engagement or Engagement Rate across the bottom.

2. The SND Leaderboard

This is a great way to keep track of the goals that are set for the staff. Unlike other social media analytics tools, Social News Desk can track not just how your accounts perform but also how your people perform. Check out this example from WJXT-TV. You can tell Stacey Readout is their superstar social media contributor over the past 30 days.

So just what do all these numbers mean? Let’s look at the Twitter Leaderboard first…

In the #1 slot, Stacey Readout’s SND Report Card data is displayed. It shows her total Tweets for the past month, the number of Likes and Retweets her posts have received (combined) as well as a breakdown of how many were Text, Links, Photos and Videos. Below that are each of the other users in order by their Twitter Leaderboard Score. Here’s how that’s calculated:

Twitter Leaderboard Score = # of (Tw) Likes + # of Retweets over the past 30 days such that the more recent Tweets are weighted more heavily.

And so that the score isn’t too large, we divide by 10. (So 5,450 becomes 545)

The Facebook Leaderboard is very similar…

In the #1 slot, Stacey Readout’s SND Report Card data is displayed. It shows her total Facebook Posts for the past month, the number of Likes, Shares, Comments and Clicks her posts have received (combined) as well as a breakdown of how many were Text, Links, Photos and Videos. Below that are each of the other users in order by their Facebook Leaderboard Score. Here’s how that’s calculated:

Facebook Leaderboard Score = # of Likes + # of Shares + # of Comments + # of Clicks over the past 30 days such that the more recent Posts are weighted more heavily.

And so that the score isn’t too large, we divide by 100. (So 1,610,300 becomes 16103)

Try putting these up on a big screen in your newsroom to inspire some healthy competition!

Here are a few other key updates…

– SND ON AIR is now fully integrated into the new SND Dashboard (including Facebook Polls).
– Manager Users can now disable Twitter Direct Message access for any Twitter account.
– We’ve updated the Facebook post error messages so they’re more detailed.

Now Developing…

Next up is the SND Score widget for your SND Analytics suite! This will allow you to view your Page against your competitors is a large format, visual widget that will look great up on the newsroom monitor wall!
